Solution for Hard Drive Not Detected During Windows XP Installation

Ruangngoprek.web.id  When you want to reinstall Windows XP, but the hard drive isn't detected during the installation process. This is undoubtedly a common issue. However, there's no need to panic. This isn't a problem with notebooks. The default BIOS settings typically set the hard drive to SATA mode (AHCI). Windows XP, however, can't read hard drives in this mode (understandably, this operating system is already considered older). However, Windows Vista and Windows 7 support this feature, so there shouldn't be any issues with hard drive reads.

The solution is very easy, just follow these steps:

1. Enter the BIOS settings, turn on/restart the notebook, press f2 while booting.
2. Change the SATA mode position from AHCI to IDE (Look for it yourself, where the option is located, because each BIOS can be different. For BIOS using InsydeH2O, this option is on the main tab)
3. Please install Windows XP

Then the question arises, "How come Windows XP was able to run on this notebook? So, SATA AHCI mode can run on Windows XP, right? Yes, it can. But you have to install the driver first. Usually, Windows XP that comes with laptops is integrated with this feature."

So how do we use SATA AHCI in Windows XP , like the notebook's default? It's easy... just download the driver. Usually, the AHCI driver is provided by the notebook manufacturer. For example, if your notebook is ACER, just go to www.acer.co.id, then go to the Service & Support section, then Driver Download. Select the notebook type, the operating system (in this case, Microsoft Windows XP), then select the SATA AHCI driver.
